AT&T Inc, the largest telecom services provider in the US, has acquired an 8.07 per cent stake in Pune-headquartered Tech Mahindra for $34.5 million (around Rs 160 crore) by exercising a 2005 option agreement to buy a stake in the company. Its stake at Tuesday's prices on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), however, is worth around Rs 900 crore.
The information technology (IT) services industry may be headed for another year of sluggish growth. Based on the results of the top five IT services companies for the first quarter of 2025-26 (Q1FY26), analysts say the possibility of hitting high single-digit revenue growth in FY26 looks unlikely.
TM has an agreement with the Union of European Football Associations, while Satyam has signed up with Fifa. A Satyam spokesperson said: "Tech Mahindra has been providing mobile streaming services to Uefa, besides other telecom services. The company will support us by offering its technology expertise in football. We will go together for the two World Cups." TM and Satyam's alliance on sports may not end with the World Cup and may expand to other disciplines as well.
Essentially, the focus will be on cracking big deals.
Tech Mahindra on Monday pipped IT giants Wipro and IBM to bag a Rs 2,000 crore (Rs 20 billion) outsourcing deal spread over 10 years from new telecom player Etisalat DB, which is in the process starting mobile services in India.

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd on Monday reported a 13.34 per cent rise in consolidated profit after tax at Rs 3,541.85 crore in the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2025 led by good performance from auto and farm equipment sectors. The company had posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 3,124.94 crore in the same quarter of the previous fiscal, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) said in a regulatory filing.

Indian-origin tech companies cornered a fifth of all H-1B visas issued by the US with Infosys and Tata Consultancy Services leading the pack, an analysis of data from the US immigration department showed. According to data from the US Citizenship and Immigration Services, in April-September 2024 period, out of the total 1.3 lakh H-1B visas issued to different employers, about 24,766 visas were issued to Indian-origin companies.
